Atlanta : United Military Care, held their We CARE Vet Fair on November 1st and 2nd, 2024. This year’s event exceeded all expectations, demonstrating the power of community support for our military veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard, Reservists, caregivers, survivors, and their families.

A Record Turnout of Veterans and Families-Supporting our Veterans

On Friday, the event welcomed a remarkable 3,283 veterans, service members, and their families from multiple states. The two-day event provided over 12,200 personal interactions!

State attendance by Veterans We CARE Vet Fair 2024

The We CARE Vet Fair has always been known for connecting veterans with the organizations that can assist them, but this year’s event felt even more special. Veterans, regardless of whether they were recently discharged or served decades ago, had the opportunity to meet with organizations offering critical services — from health care, job placement, and financial assistance to mental health support, housing resources, and more. The wide range of services available ensured that every attendee could find the help they needed, no matter their situation. Sweetwater Mission provided over 71,000 pounds of food, Kennesaw Mountain National Park provided over 100 Free park passes, Kindred Barber & Beauty gave 158 new haircuts, and over 400 claims were filed - just to name a few! Special thanks to Waffle House and Sysco for the amazing lunch and snacks throughout the day.

Happy Story: Vietnam Veteran had been denied multiple times over 30 years and thought he would try one more time face to face to receive his disability. The VA representative he met with not only was able to get his disability approved, she was able to locate military records that entitled him to 100% retroactive pay!

Navigating the VA Claims Process

Saturday’s turnout of individuals were focused on one of the most essential services offered: VA benefits and claims filing. With expert representatives from the VA and Georgia Department of Veteran Services, attendees had the chance to receive guidance and assistance in navigating the often complex and confusing process of filing for VA benefits. This hands-on support is vital for veterans looking to access the benefits they've earned through their service, and the turnout demonstrated just how much this service is needed.

For many veterans, filing VA claims can be a stressful and overwhelming experience. The presence of experienced professionals, including claims representatives and legal advisors, helped ensure that veterans left the fair with a clear understanding of the next steps in their claims process. The fair’s commitment to making these services accessible, whether through in-person assistance or workshops, made a real difference for hundreds of individuals.

“Having the Mobile Exams on site was unparalleled. I was helped and such a smooth operation. VES was wonderful” - Male Veteran

Collaborating for a Stronger Support Network

The We CARE Vet Fair would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of over 120 participating organizations and sponsors. From government agencies like the VA and the Georgia Department of Veterans Services to non-profit organizations, local businesses, and veteran-owned companies, the collaboration among these groups was truly inspiring. This year, the fair saw a broadening of services, including new partners offering specialized care for mental health, employment, and housing.

87% of the Veterans polled would strongly recommend this event to other Veterans according to surveys.

As the needs of veterans continue to evolve, so too do the solutions provided by these organizations. Many of the exhibitors offered not only resources for immediate needs but also long-term solutions, such as job training, educational programs, and housing assistance. These collaborations are a powerful reminder of the community’s collective responsibility to support veterans — and the We CARE Vet Fair is a prime example of that commitment in action.

“First time attending one. I have difficulty walking, I was helped all the way through with registration and where to go. I was pleasantly impressed with how things went. I went of course on the second day.” - Female Veteran

Looking Forward

As we reflect on the success of this year’s We CARE Vet Fair, it’s clear that the event has become a critical resource for veterans and their families. The turnout, the level of engagement, and the sheer breadth of services available highlight the fair’s growing importance in Georgia and beyond.

Active Duty, Guard & Reserve

Looking ahead to next year, United Military Care and partners are already thinking about ways to expand and improve the event, ensuring that even more veterans and service members can access the services they need. With the continued support of local organizations, government agencies, and the community at large, the We CARE Vet Fair promises to remain an essential gathering for those who have served our country.

The 2024 We CARE Vet Fair was a testament to the power of collaboration, community, and compassion. To all the veterans, service members, and their families who attended — and to the organizations, sponsors and volunteers that made it all possible — thank you for making this year’s event such an overwhelming success. We look forward to seeing you next year!
