A Day of Service and Gratitude — Columbus We Care Vet Fair 2025

On Friday, September 12, 2025, the Columbus Civic Center was transformed into a powerful hub of hope, healing, and heartfelt appreciation for our nation’s heroes. Hosted by United Military Care, the Columbus We Care Vet Fair welcomed over 1,800 veterans and active-duty military personnel for a day dedicated to their well-being, careers, and connection to vital services — all provided free of charge.

Columbus We CARE Vet Fair - Columbus Civic Center

A Collaborative Effort for Those Who Serve

With the support of 100 local, state, and federal partners, the event offered a wide range of specialized, one-on-one care designed specifically for the military community. From health services to job opportunities, the fair embodied the true meaning of “We Care.”

Valley Healthcare played a critical role in the day’s success, providing free dental, optical, and medical care, ensuring veterans could access essential treatments and screenings without financial burden.

Health, Healing, and Resources

Veterans were able to take crucial steps in managing their long-term wellness. Through on-site enrollment in VA Healthcare, issuance of VA ID cards, and the opportunity to file claims and appeals with the Georgia Department of Veteran Services and the Central Alabama VA, attendees gained direct access to the benefits they’ve earned through service.

The Morehouse School of Medicine provided education and screenings for Parkinson’s Disease, addressing a health concern that affects many in the veteran community. Also offering healing of a different kind, K9s for Warriors connected veterans with trained service animals — loyal companions ready to help navigate life after service.

Building a Brighter Future

For those seeking new career paths, the Vet Fair was a launching pad. Representatives from Georgia Power, U.S. Customs & Border Protection, Buffalo Rock, Worksource Georgia, Vectorply, KIA Georgia, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons were on hand to offer employment opportunities to veterans ready to transition into the civilian workforce. These partners, along with several other sponsors, demonstrated a shared commitment to empowering our heroes beyond their military careers. Those looking for training and education spoke with Columbus State University, Columbus Technical College and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

Honoring Service with Heartfelt Tributes

The day was not just about services — it was about recognition and respect. The Quilts of Valor Foundation presented two stunning handmade quilts, gifted to a retired Navy Veteran and Kevin Loncher, owner of Ranger Rags. These quilts, stitched with love and gratitude, served as tangible reminders of the nation’s appreciation.

Celebrating Legacy and Community

The event also welcomed cultural and educational organizations, including the National Infantry Museum, which showcased its rich, historical offerings. The Chattahoochee Valley Library System and the Georgia Library for the Blind and Print Disabled were also present, emphasizing lifelong learning and accessibility for all.

An event of this size and impact would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors and community partners, who shared our vision of honoring and serving veterans with dignity, compassion, and action.

A Lasting Impact

The Columbus We Care Vet Fair wasn’t just a one-day event — it was a movement of care, connection, and community. It brought together people and organizations with one shared mission: to honor and serve those who’ve served us. Although we are unable to list every partner that participated, know that all of the groups and organizations that participated work tirelessly every day to care for those who served - we are grateful to know you and call you partner.

As United Military Care continues its mission, events like this remind us all that when we come together — as neighbors, as professionals, as patriots — we can create meaningful, lasting change in the lives of our nation’s veterans. Thank you!

To every veteran and active-duty service member: thank you. We care — and we always will. 🇺🇸
